MIAMI - Recognizing the growing importance of shipboard lighting and sound technologies and the increasing sophistication of cruise ship entertainment venues, CMP Princeton Inc., organizers of the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention, announced today the creation of a PLASA@Sea Pavilion in the 2005 exhibition.
The pavilion is sponsored by PLASA, the Professional Lighting and Sound Association, a United Kingdom-based trade organization established to serve the entertainment, presentation, installation and communications industries. The PLASA organization represents nearly 500 members worldwide, owns the annual PLASA Show in London and publishes "Lighting&Sound International" and "Lighting&Sound America" magazines as well as the LSI Online News service.
"For years we have had lighting-design, sound-design and entertainment-related exhibitors in our trade show, but this will be the first time we have brought them all together in a pavilion," said Michael Kazakoff, vice president of CMP Princeton Inc. "We're convinced that gathering these vendors in one pavilion under PLASA's sponsorship will prove to be popular with cruise line executives, ship builders and designers sourcing these products and services."
The Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention is the world's largest annual cruise-related event and in 2004 drew more than 9,000 visitors from 116 countries and regions. The three-day trade show and four-day conference attract more than a thousand cruise line executives from around the world.
The nearly 150,000-net-square-foot exhibition features national pavilions as well as special sections for destinations, ship equipment, ship services and hotel operations, food and beverage, design and technology. The PLASA@Sea pavilion will complement the exhibition's existing industry-specific pavilions.
The 21st annual Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention is scheduled for March 14-17, 2005, at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
