2007 ATTENDEE SURVEY: "SEATRADE CRUISE SHIPPING CONVENTION…

CMP recently launched its annual web-based, comprehensive survey aimed at all attendees at the event and found it revealed some interesting facts as noted below.
Key findings indicate a very strong performance of the show and positive return on investments for exhibitors, conference attendees and visitors.
- The 2007 Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention attracted a high quality audience of attendees who recommend, specify or make the final purchasing decision. This net buying influence accounted for 89% of the attendees of which 39% approve purchases.
- On an annual basis, 45.4% of the attendees have a purchasing power of 0-$100,000; 31.1% fall in the range of $100,000-$500,000; 18% fall between $500,000-$5m; and 5.5% fall in the greater than $5m range.
- Of those surveyed, 49.2% sourced Ship Equipment; 44.5% sourced Ship Services/Hotel Operations; 57.9% sourced Destinations; 26.8% sourced Food & Beverage; 22% sourced Design; 38.6% sourced Information Technology; 24.4% sourced Entertainment Technology; and 18.1% sourced Superyacht Pavilion suppliers. (Some attendees source more than one product range.)
- 91.7% did find the products and services they were looking for at the 2007 Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention. 28.3% will purchase in the 1-3 month time range, 29% will purchase in the 3-6 month time range and the balance will purchase within a year or more.
- Ranking high and very high on influencing the decision to attend the event was the trade show exhibits and one stop shopping; meeting peers and the networking events; and saving time and money by eliminating some travel. 81.7% of the respondents plan to attend next year.
- Of those surveyed, 65% regularly visited www.cruiseshipping.net for event updates, with 32% rating the website very good and 39% rating the website good.
- 41% rated the usefulness of the show directory as good, 37% rated the conference program guide as good, and 40% rated the usefulness of the on-site newsletter, Seatrade Today, as good.
Methodology: A systematic probability sample of 9,760 registrant email addresses with a response of 1,014 completed surveys. Study was conducted via the internet.
